Our Mission
The Department of Value and Decision Science (VALDES) is a graduate school department established in 1996 with the aim of practical trans-disciplinary research and education. Global warming, global financial system management, pandemics, ... - the issues we face in the 21st Century are becoming increasingly more complex. The mission of VALDES is to develop the new type of leaders competent both in value judgment and decision making that can challenge such complex issues.

To this end, we:
Embrace three ideals to produce educated and intelligent students: integration, innovation and implementation - aiming at innovative creation of new knowledge and the implementation of it through the integration of specialized disciplines; and
Educate students to become positive in what they are pursuing, flexible to go beyond fixed ideas, adaptive to forecast changes in advance, and capable of communicating with people from different backgrounds.

Students & Alumni
VALDES students are from universities, companies and other institutions worldwide. No specific discipline is a prerequisite for our prospective students. Our students are from the widest possible range of disciplines - natural science, engineering, social sciences and humanity. VALDES graduates become equipped with deep insights and proactive leadership. Accordingly, our graduates find opportunities both in Japan and overseas in an exceptionally broad range of organizations, including financial institutions, manufacturing firms, trading companies, governments, non-profit organizations, research institutions, and universities
